What is The Marriage Course?
The Marriage Course is designed to help couples strengthen their relationship. It is an opportunity to spend time together and to rediscover what is important! The eight week course is designed to get you talking and to build a healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime. There is no group work at all so you don’t have to worry about having to talk with others about what is private.
The Marriage aims to provide practical tools to help you:
- understand each other’s needs
- communicate more effectively
- grow closer through resolving conflict
- heal the ways you’ve hurt each other
- recognise how your upbringing affects your relationship
- improve relationships with parents and in-laws
- develop greater sexual intimacy
- discover each other’s love languages and much, much more!

What is involved?
Each week when you arrive you will be given opportunity to purchase tea/coffee plus desert and catch up with one another. There will be a brief introduction to the evening once everyone has arrived.
The course material uses a DVD and each guest will have a workbook.
People who have attended this course frequently give feedback saying that the most helpful part of the course was providing time for couples to talk. This is NOT with a group. Discussion is with you as a couple. Couples are seated at a small table — one couple per table. During discussion time there will be music playing so that it will cover the conversations at the next table.
At the end of each session you will be given something to discuss together during the week. You will not be tested, or checked up on in anyway. It is simply in your interests to continue to put into place things that you have talked and learnt during the session.
You are encouraged to come every week because the material tends to build on what has gone before.
Who’s running the course?
Albury Presbyterian Church. The course facilitators are Cade and Lisa Whitbourn. Cade and Lisa have been married for 13 years and have 4 daughters.
